Ducks on the Moon by Kelley Jo Burke is a creative non-fiction performance piece about families, and autism written and performed by Burke and directed and staged by Michele Sereda. Kelley Jo Burke’s performance documentary is a remarkably candid, humorous, and raw journey through the early years with a child with atypical autism.
Kelley Jo Burke received the City of Regina writing award for Ducks on the Moon and she was nominated for the 2009 Innovation in the Arts Mayors Arts and Business Award. Burke was recently awarded the Lieutenant Governor's Award for Leadership in the Arts.
Navigating is a performance/installation that draws from a trip taken to Ukraine in 2006 shortly after the orange revolution. Navigating was created and is performed by Michele Sereda and directed by Kelly Handerek. Material was collected, by Sereda, in the form of photography, audio journaling, and video during a three-week period (May 2006) on the east side in the country’s largest industrial centre, Dnipropretrovsk. A year later a performance template and script emerged centering on the ideas of memory, identity, and deep ancestry.
Michele Sereda received a 2008 Regional Centre of Expertise Award from the University of Regina, and was nominated for a 2009 Innovation of the Arts Mayors Arts and Business Award.
Curtain Razors is a Regina based organization that has been creating, producing, and presenting new Canadian theatre for the past twenty years, collaborating with organizations and individual artists to create new ways of telling stories.

Take a journey back in time to the sound of one of the top groups of the 1950’s. The Platters became a pop and R&B success, eventually earning the distinction of being the first black act of the era to top the pop charts. Considered the most romantic of all the doo wop groups, they effortlessly released hit after hit including: ‘Only You,’ ‘The Great Pretender,’ ‘My Prayer,’ ‘Twilight Time,’ ‘Smoke Gets in Your Eyes’ and ‘Harbor Lights’. Their many hits established the Platters as the classiest of all. Although many of the original group have passed away, the legend lives on with Oscar Charles and the Legendary Platters. They will perform the songs made famous by the original group.

The Good Lovelies received the Emerging Artist Award at the 2009 Canadian Folk Music Awards and the 2010 Juno Award for Roots Album of the Year. They are not your run-of-the-mill ‘all girl’ band. At a time when too many of us are affected by gloom, doom and recovering from recession, these three women are the perfect antidote. Described as folk-roots and western swing, the Toronto-based trio rely on unerring three-part vocal harmonies, clever songs and onstage convulsively funny repartee. The Good Lovelies played their first show in December of 2006. Since then, they have quit their jobs, toured coast to coast numerous times and released three albums. To boot, the Good Lovelies just finished touring with the Vinyl Cafe in March 2010 and can be heard singing backup on Jill Barber’s album ‘Chances.’ In addition to spreading sharp, light-hearted music coast to coast, The Good Lovelies will appear on a PBS Special ‘Girls from the North Country’ alongside Dala and Oh Susanna.

Danny Michel is a Canadian musical treasure whose eclectic musical offerings run the gamut between sweet pop love songs and dark tales of misery and woe. Danny’s solo shows strike straight to the heart. Backed only by his charm and wit on stage, his songs come to life in a way unlike any other one-man show you’ve ever seen. In his solo shows, Danny is truly in his element. Fearless and full of surprises, you never know what you are going to get but you are assured that every moment will be fresh and spontaneous. “Danny Michel has reached a point where his musical vocabulary is so broad, his songwriting/arranging chops so sharp, his guitar playing so distinctive and his taste for the right sonic touch so impeccable that he can do whatever he wants and make it compelling.” This is a glowing review from Eye Magazine.

Joe Trio‘s repertoire consists of the classics, Haydn to Shostakovich, new works by contemporary composers and their own arrangements of popular, jazz and rock tunes. They’re not afraid to mix together so many styles of music into a single piece that it makes your head spin. More than virtuosi, the Trio’s members are fantastic performers who engage the audience in a way that few classical musicians can. Amply witty, charming, and tremendously musical, Joe Trio leaves audiences with a new appreciation for classical music.

When you mention the name Virsky, everyone in the Ukrainian community gets excited at the news that they are coming for a fall tour across Canada. Virsky goes back to 1937 when two well known Ukrainian ballet masters, Pavlo Virsky and Mykola Bolotov first brought a group of folk dancers together. From 1955 to 1975 the group was lead by Virsky whose exciting and passionate choreography has amazed the dance world for years. It was under the guidance of Virsky that the company matured into the professional dance ensemble that the world enjoys today.
In 1980, Myroslav Vantukh, Virsky’s disciple and an expert in folk traditions and ethnography took over from Virsky and continued the creative genius, preservation and development of folk choreographic art.
The foreign press has been unanimous about the high quality and professionalism displayed by the Virsky National Dance Company of Ukraine over the years. Virsky continues to grow under the direction of Vantukh as he takes the dancers to new heights of accomplishment through his ever expanding repertoire of new dances and continues to entertain and educate the world about the talents of the Ukraine.
They have travelled the world, to over sixty countries, performing for audiences in Mexico, the United States, Cuba, Venezuela, more than ten European countries, Vietnam, India, China, Brazil, and Korea. With their first class performances they have surprised and delighted audiences while teaching the world about the wonderful land of Ukraine.
Boen Arts is pleased to announce the first ever all Canadian Tour of Virsky, the National Dance Company of Ukraine. Starting on October 7, 2010, they will begin their spectacular cross Canada tour in Vancouver, BC. The tour then travels across the country from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec and ends in Ontario. Please visit www.boenarts.com for performance places and dates.

Prairie Oyster has never been swayed by prevailing musical trends and their never-wavering musical integrity helps account for both their longevity and the deep affection with which they are viewed by roots music lovers across Canada and beyond. Included in their successes is a platinum album in Canada, critical acclaim in the USA, a tally of six Juno Awards, eleven CCMA’s, and fourteen RPM Big Country Awards. Despite these achievements, it is Prairie Oyster’s music, not their impressive history, that speaks most eloquently.
